Abbey of Landevennec

Where the Alder joins the roadstead of Brest, and in the heart of the national forest, the Abbey of Landevennec is a preserved place. Protected from the prevailing winds, with the sea as its backdrop, this place has a very special note with its palm trees and mimosas.

This paradise, magnificently facing the rising sun, is an exceptional natural site, with the remains of the Carolingian cloister, the archaeological site and the museum of the former abbey, which tells the story of the evolution of a monastic complex rooted in Breton history for more than fifteen centuries.

Throughout the year educational workshops, concerts, exhibitions and numerous events bring to life the ruins of this major site of medieval archaeology in Europe. In the summer, you can also become an apprentice archaeologist or participate in a copyist workshop. A garden of the simple flowers blooms again, reminding us of the interest that the monks herbalists had in plants.

Landevennec is blessed with a mild and serene climate, conducive to the rest of the soul … A place that I particularly recommend!
